Parents,

We are currently recruiting players for a Boys U-8 Travel Soccer Team to play in the Spring of 2010.   A new team will be formed and play in the Morris County Youth Soccer League.,

We are looking for players (and supportive parents) who :
 -   Love playing rec soccer and are willing to explore taking the game 'to the next level'
 -   Want professional team training
 -   Would be proud to represent our town against other teams in Morris County
 -   Are willing to commit 10 Sunday afternoons between April and June playing in a competitive 8v8 soccer game

U-8 players must have a birthday between August 1, 2001 and July 31,  2002.    (League rules do not permit exceptions for U-8).

From a financial perspective, it is important to understand that our Travel Teams are self-funded.   Therefore, each player can expect to pay roughly $150 per season.   This is to cover League Entry fees, Referee Expenses and Professional Training.    In addition, there is a per child uniform fee of roughly $100 (but this is a uniform which will generally last 4 seasons and includes multiple personalized jerseys)

We are looking forwarding to starting what we hope will be a multi-year positive experience for these players.     For example, our U-12 teams will each celebrate their 100th game this year - and most of the players have been with the program since Day 1.   Very few youth sport experiences offer that level of continuity, teamwork and friendship.

As Coach of our East Hanover Eagles (U12) and with two U-8 boys wanting to play, I encourage you to explore this.   It has been more rewarding for my son (and myself) than I would have ever imagined when we started 5 years ago.

Feel free to contact me with questions.    Even better - feel free to come cheer our U12 team on at Middle School Field this Saturday Oct 24th at our 2pm home game.   It will give you an opportunity to see the game at this level and talk to some of the parents about the experience.

Please send potential players or just questions with your contact information to my home email at edubeau@optonline.net      My cell phone number is 973-600-7560 if you'd like to discuss the program (but I ask that you please limit these calls to evenings or weekends).

Thanks in advance for your consideration !   (and my sons Christopher & Connor will definitely thank you if we can start a team !)

Offsides Rule

This time of year everyone questions players being on offsides. Please review FIFA interactive guide to offsides and remember your vantage point as on the sideline and seeing is very different than what the referees see. Referees calls on the field are final.

Codes of Conduct
Dear Member of the East Hanover Soccer Club:

The Board of Directors has recently adopted a new Code of Conduct that applies to both the recreation soccer program and the travel soccer program. The East Hanover Soccer Club expects all players, coaches, parents and spectators to conduct themselves according to the Code of Conduct either during a game, a practice or while performing official Club business.

The first paragraph in the Code of Conduct defines its purpose as follows:

In order to ensure that the principles of sportsmanship, fair play, and mutual respect among players, coaches, officials, and spectators characterize all competition sponsored by the EHSC, the following Code of Conduct has been established. It is the obligation of all program administrators, coaches, parents, and players to create an environment that promotes this objective. Those who willfully violate this code jeopardize their participation in the EHSC soccer program.

We ask that all participants in the program review the Code of Conduct. In addition, Coaches should review the Code of Conduct with their players to ensure compliance. We have already had several players receive yellow cards for inappropriate language. Familiarity with the Code of Conduct should help to avoid these unfortunate events.

The EHSC Board of Directors reserves the right to discipline any member who violates the Code of Conduct including suspension or expulsion from the program.

Sincerely

The Board of Directors, EHSC
